comfort

BLESSED
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies
and God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our tribulation,
THAT
we may be able to comfort
those who are in any trouble,
with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted
by God.

FOR
as the sufferings of Christ abound in us,
SO [also]
our consolation also abounds
through Christ.

NOW [therefore]
if we are afflicted,
it is for your consolation and salvation
which is effective
for enduring
the same sufferings which we also suffer.
OR [likewise]
if we are comforted,
it is for your consolation and salvation.

AND
our hope for you is steadfast,
BECAUSE
we know
that as you are partakers of the sufferings,
SO ALSO
you will partake of the consolation.

FOR
we do not want you to be ignorant,
brethren,
of our trouble
which came to us in Asia:
[which is this:]
that we were burdened beyond measure,
above strength,
so that we despaired,
even of life.

YES, [you'd better believe it]
we had the sentence of death
in ourselves [within us, in our very beings]
[so] THAT
we should not trust in ourselves
BUT in God
who raises the dead,
who delivered us from so great a death,
and does [still, continually] deliver us;
in whom we trust that He
WILL STILL
deliver us,
you also helping
together
in prayer for us,
THAT
thanks may be given
by many persons
on our behalf
for the gift
granted to us
through many.

shaken - rachael lampa

at prayer last night, this song came to mind. very apropos. :)

listen to it here. (if it jumps, let it finish loading before playing.)

Shaken - sung by Rachael Lampa

Take a ride back in history
Let's review the facts of eternity
To the children of Israel
And the burning sands and the desert heat
Bitter hearts in the wilderness
God saw that they would not confess
With a velvet touch and an iron hand
He dragged them to the promise land

And everything that can be will be
Everything that can be will be

Shaken, shaken, shaken, shaken
Shaken, shaken, shaken, shaken
Shaken, shaken, shaken, shaken
God is going to shake the whole thing down

Raise your hands children
Lift them high
Let's join our hearts
Walk in the light
There's a desert there's a wilderness
Separating us from a better life
See, together we can walk through fire
We can face the flame
We can reach the higher
Ground that waits is the promise land
'Cause only faith and love will stand
And everything that can be will be
Everything that can be will be

Shaken, shaken, shaken, shaken
Some things last forever
Shaken, shaken, shaken, shaken
Some things fade away
Shaken, shaken, shaken, shaken
God is going to shake the whole thing down

Everything that can be will be
Everything that can be will be

amen!!!

are you willing to be shaken?

i believe in You

They ask me how I feel
And if my love is real
And how I know I'll make it through
And they, they look at me and frown
They'd like to drive me from this town
They don't want me around
'Cause I believe in you.

They show me to the door
They say don't come back no more
'Cause I don't be like they'd like me to
And I, I walk out on my own
A thousand miles from home
But I don't feel alone
'Cause I believe in you.

I believe in you even through the tears and the laughter
I believe in you even though we be apart
I believe in you even on the morning after
Oh, when the dawn is nearing
Oh, when the night is disappearing
Oh, this feeling is still here in my heart.

Don't let me drift too far
Keep me where you are
Where I will always be renewed
And that which you've given me today
Is worth more than I could pay
And no matter what they say
I believe in you.

I believe in you when winter turn to summer
I believe in you when white turn to black
I believe in you even though I be outnumbered
Oh, though the earth may shake me
Oh, though my friends forsake me
Oh, even that couldn't make me go back.

Don't let me change my heart
Keep me set apart
From all the plans they do pursue
And I, I don't mind the pain
Don't mind the driving rain
I know I will sustain
'Cause I believe in you.

its spider season

my little 8 legged nemeses are coming out of hiding already.

now, i don't normally handle pressure well at all.

but when things are kind of an emergency, i can click into gear.

and seein' as how already in the last month, with hardly a spider to be seen, i've been bitten twice, and now they are starting to come out of hibernation, i'd call this an arachnomergency.

so firstly, i'm gutting my bathroom. that sounds more reno-y than it is - it just means for me, getting the junk from under the sink out, some of it thrown away, and what remains put on either the wooden shelves i just about lost a pinky to (yes, a total exaggeration) putting together yesterday, or the little wire cart i got today.

i have plans. since its an open cabinet (cheap wooden utility shelves i oiled with mineral oil), i got a yellow voile curtain to put on the side facing the toilet to protect the contents from 'flush-spray'. it should match the natural wood nicely, as well as hide any microscopic staining. (too bad it can't hide all the dings from the screwdriver too!!)

and the little rubbermaid wire-cart-on-wheels fits perfectly under my sink, but only half the width, so i'm planning to go get another one to make a matched set.

its just the bathroom in a cluttered house, but it's a start. i keep telling myself i'm really a minimalist at heart, that just hasn't learned to minimize yet.....

and God is gracious with me.... the energy to put together the shelves yesterday came out of nowhere, and the $15 cart and $5 curtain i got today were sweet deals. i also picked up a flannel fitted sheet for $6, a pretty sweater for $5, and a tank top for $3, all clearance items. can't beat that for brand new!!!! :)

amen to that!

you don't need a pulpit to say amen to this one!

purse contents meme

i don't know why the audio is out of sync. *sighs* but here it is anyways.

[just a note: with some research i discovered what the symbol on the purse meant, so i trimmed the prettyness off... and was left with a bare bones bag that i washed.... it shrunk.... and decided to donate for some other crafty person to fix up... lol. (sept 2010)]

THIS BLOG IS IN NEED OF AN OVERHAUL. there are posts from years back i would not be able to post in good conscience now. i plan to overhaul the blog, and either delete or add a disclaimer to those posts. but that is gonna take time....

The Radical Summons: "
Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp and bear the reproach He endured. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come." Hebrews 13:13.

"The Spirit never loosens where the Word binds; the Spirit never justifies where the Word condemns; the Spirit never approves where the Word disapproves; the Spirit never blesses where the Word curses." —Thomas Brooks

‎"God receives none but those who are forsaken, restores health to none but those who are sick, gives sight to none but the blind, and life to none but the dead. He does not give saintliness to any but sinners, nor wisdom to any but fools. In short: He has mercy on none but the wretched and gives grace to none but those who are in disgrace. Therefore no arrogant saint, or just or wise man can be material for God, neither can he do the work of God, but he remains confined within his own work and makes of himself a fictitious, ostensible, false, and deceitful saint, that is, a hypocrite." --Martin Luther (W.A. 1.183ff)

i will not let You go: "Jacob's sense of his total debility and utter defeat is now the secret of his power with his friendly Vanquisher. God can overthrow all the prowess of the self-reliant, but He cannot resist the earnest entreaty of the helpless." --Albert Barnes

i will not let You go: "Jacob's determination did not flow from his strength, it flowed from his weakness." --Charles Leiter
