general generalness

1. so ok, it's april 24th, and it's snowing. ack. odd weather even for us!

2. i'm going to be selling necklaces (and maybe other stuff) to fundraise for a friend's adoption fund. mostly at church/ladies retreat, etc. (i'm not venturing into online sales, tho. it's too hard for me to get to the post office!) so any donations of beads or fixings or pendants or jewelery to recycle etc, send them my way!

3. i've been walking more.

4. but not today - it's snowing out there!

5. i heart my camera.

6. i heart my Jesus more!

7. wondering how long it's going to take for "i heart" to wind up in the dictionary....?

8. sad that i baked bread (after so many years) and loved it and intended to bake again that week and here i am prolly two months later and i still haven't baked again and i have no clear counter space (papers) or table space (beads) to eat at, never mind knead dough at!!!! wahhhhhh!

9. happy that cell is tonight!

10. i heart my cell.

11. i heart my friends.

12. i heart dinner at friends' houses!

13. i heart having friends over for dinner, but bemoan the fact that i have no table or counter space to feed them at (see #8). picnic on lynnie's floor, anyone?

14. but not on the deck - it's snowing out there!!!!!

15. wondering why i think well in lists?

16. wondering why i think anyone would want to read my thoughts in list form?

17. wondering why i think my friends are so shallow as to judge me for writing in an alternate format? - doh!

18. wondering why i'm caring what 'man' thinks, anyways?

19. have an annoying itchy spot on my back. grr.

20. ....i've run out of thoughts. time for food.

and i feed it so carefully...

... just a couple pieces of tp at a time.... flush... a few more... flush... a few more... flush...

... a few more... flush... it's not doing what it's supposed to be doing!!!... grab the plunger... plunge... plunge... plunge.... water rises... plunge maniacally... water still rises ....

... plunging frenetically now, water spills over the top.... i plunge a few more times and realize the water isn't stopping flowing into the bowl!.... drop the plunger, lift the lid, and find the balloon hasn't popped up!

so i lift it, jam my pajama pants under it to hold it up, run to my linen closet for towels and grab the 3 last clean towels and throw them down and drag 'em round, trying to stem the slow tide running down the floor in front of my cabinets... (all this in a matter of seconds)...

towels totally sopped in no time, wring wring wring, into the tub (of course, the toilet bowl is still full of water and plunger)... mop mop mop, wring wring wring, getting so tired, yet my brain *finally* kicks in that i have clean towels in the dryer just outside my bathroom door....

so i finally get the floor dry.

i step back and take stock.

toilet, still full of water and plunger. floor, previously wet, now pretty much dry. previously perfectly-good-for-wearing jammy pants hanging out of the back of the toilet, dry at the top and soaked from the floor. tub full of toilet-water-wet towels, things hucked off the floor in a hurry, and my toilet paper sitting on top of it all, just soaking it all in. my shorts are soaked, legs soaked, arms soaked, and i'm trying not to think of what might have splashed on my face. and it's 12:30 at night.

i'm going to bed! i huck my clothes, dry off my arms and legs, grab the sanitizer bottle, spray... spray... spray... (spray my feet for good measure), spray spray spray, declare that God is bigger than all the germs YES HE IS!!!!, spray spray spray, flip on the fan, turn out the light, and close the door behind me.

good night.

today, i have laundry to do, some more spraying to do, and all the usual chores of course.....

and to top it all off, i had a crappy sleep.

go figure.

dumb, numb, and wide awake

seeing the doc can be so hard (especially when you are just getting to know him!) ..... it's hard for me to talk at the best of times. i can have all kinds of things going on in my head, and he asks, "how are things going?", and i can't answer. it's just too *big*, y'know? the mouth can't translate the brain!

hopefully my sleeping issues of late will be resolved the next week or two, after an increase in meds .... i've had difficulty sleeping since i was a kid.

....and i never did get around to asking about my numb toe, after wearing my heeled loafers all day saturday running around for the wedding..... and i was wearing them today, to boot!!!!

some of my felting and fulling

first, my *fulled* purse (it's called fulling, not felting (technically, anyways) when something is first worked up in crochet or knitting and *then* shrunked (aka 'wet felted')):

though you can still see the crochet stiches quite clearly, it did shrink probably 30 to 40%, especially width-wise...

close up of the closure - a braided then fulled strand, made into loop closure with shell sewn on the front:

a close up of the fringed edging, which is non-worked yarn, just allowed to wet-felt on it's own:

even closer, you can still see the twist of the yarn.

when i need to wash it, i just plan to throw it in the washer.

people don't realize that felting/fulling is a natural process of the scales on the hair shaft of the wool 'locking' together via friction..... here's a few locks of my own, the exact same function, lol:

next, my wet-fulled mousie:

you can still see the crochet stitches. he is stuffed with pellets i stole from a bean bag.

here you can see his shape better, including his dainty tail that i rolled between my fingers:

and finally, my fulled *and* needle felted bunny.

first i loosely crocheted a bunny shape and washed him but good. you can still vaguely see the 'spiral' of the original crochet stitches around his belly. dried him out thoroughly.

then i took a felting needle to him and shrunk him up way farther and added the detailing, like his mouth, eyes, belly button, and the shape of his hands....

i made a spoon shape for his hands - the direction in which the wool is felting is how it shrinks - so it flattened real flat in the center, creating a spoon shape:

i added some plain wool in a lighter shade for his teeth. the indentation of his mouth is done strictly with the needle, the original shape of his head was just an orb. the wonders of felting needles!

and just plain a cool pic of my crazy mr. bunny:

ciao for meow!

THIS BLOG IS IN NEED OF AN OVERHAUL. there are posts from years back i would not be able to post in good conscience now. i plan to overhaul the blog, and either delete or add a disclaimer to those posts. but that is gonna take time....

The Radical Summons: "
Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp and bear the reproach He endured. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come." Hebrews 13:13.

"The Spirit never loosens where the Word binds; the Spirit never justifies where the Word condemns; the Spirit never approves where the Word disapproves; the Spirit never blesses where the Word curses." —Thomas Brooks

‎"God receives none but those who are forsaken, restores health to none but those who are sick, gives sight to none but the blind, and life to none but the dead. He does not give saintliness to any but sinners, nor wisdom to any but fools. In short: He has mercy on none but the wretched and gives grace to none but those who are in disgrace. Therefore no arrogant saint, or just or wise man can be material for God, neither can he do the work of God, but he remains confined within his own work and makes of himself a fictitious, ostensible, false, and deceitful saint, that is, a hypocrite." --Martin Luther (W.A. 1.183ff)

i will not let You go: "Jacob's sense of his total debility and utter defeat is now the secret of his power with his friendly Vanquisher. God can overthrow all the prowess of the self-reliant, but He cannot resist the earnest entreaty of the helpless." --Albert Barnes

i will not let You go: "Jacob's determination did not flow from his strength, it flowed from his weakness." --Charles Leiter
